Our ALABAMA SECESSION DAY COMMEMORATION program was held at the Alabama State Capitol Auditorium on Saturday, 27 January 2007 and I think it was quite a success despite the fact it was dreadfully cold Saturday morning, but the Capitol was nice & warm and we served FREE hot coffee, juice and donuts that kinda sorta eased folks' pain! :>)
We had a pretty good turnout...considering it was dreadfully cold and the last weekend for hunting in Alabama PLUS the fact that the previous weekend of January 20, we had over 300 at the Capitol for the Bicentennial Birthday Celebration of General Lee. I knew asking folks to come to the Cradle two weekends in a row was really "pushin' the envelope"! LOL! But we had just under 100 folks there for our Secession Day program. We also had a lot of new faces to our event...that is encouraging that we are reaching "outside the box"....for new recruits into our movement of Southern Liberty and getting our country back on track toward a REPUBLIC!

Joint resolution refutes plan for national identification cards

Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap today praised Maine lawmakers for declaring their bi-partisan opposition to the federally mandated REAL ID Act. A joint resolution rejecting REAL ID earned passage through the Maine House and Senate today by an overall vote of 171 to 4. Click here for more. update Maine overwhelmingly rejected federal requirements for national identification cards on Thursday, marking the first formal state opposition to controversial legislation scheduled to go in effect for Americans next year.
Both chambers of the Maine legislature approved a resolution saying the state flatly "refuses" to force its citizens to use driver's licenses that comply with digital ID standards, which were established under the 2005 Real ID Act. It asks the U.S. Congress to repeal the law.
The vote represents a political setback for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Republicans in Washington, D.C., which have argued that nationalized ID cards for all Americans would help in the fight against terrorists. Click here more more.

Presently, I have an appeal in a criminal tax case pending before the Eleventh Circuit which raises the issue as to who is liable for the federal income tax.
The government filed its brief in this case and I was utterly amazed at the government's answer to my argument.
Due to the admission so made, I now realize that my argument is monumentally significant and I feel compelled to tell other attorneys involved in similar litigation.
I had expected that the government would respond with a lengthy, detailed argument showing that state citizens were taxed via some complicated manner that directly or indirectly so imposed the tax.
/////// But, when I received the government's brief, I found one page thereof that addressed my issue;.. After calling my argument frivolous, the U.S. attorney then stated as follows:
"The government is unable, therefore, to offer case authority for the universally accepted proposition that a citizen of the United States, working and residing in the United States, subject to federal law, earning wages, and responsible for filing an income tax return, is liable for taxation."

WASHINGTON - As the 2006 tax season approaches, the federal government is still trying to recover nearly $3 billion from its own employees who failed to file income tax returns for 2005.

My friend Phelan over at A Homesteading Neophyte wants to be a Granny Warrior when she grows up. Phelan recently held a raffle for copies of a film she'd gotten from the grannies - Aaron Russo's documentary "America: Freedom to Fascism." Yours truly put his name in and happened to win a copy. This posting is her fault...
I'd never heard of the film, and from what I could glean from the posting, the subject seemed to be an exploration and challenge of the tax code. My initial reaction wasn’t very enthusiastic. My first thought was, "Oh, those folks." When I sent info to Phelan for mailing the DVD, the sardonic subject heading of my e-mail quipped "On my future at Sing Sing." HOUSTON -- Ron Paul, the iconoclastic nine-term congressman from southeast Texas, took the first step Thursday toward launching a second presidential bid in 2008, this time as a Republican.
Snyder said Paul and his supporters are not intimidated by the presence of nationally known and better-financed candidates such as Sen. John McCain of Arizona or former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. "This is going to be a grassroots American campaign," he said. "For us, it's either going to happen at the grassroots level or it's not." Paul limits his view of the role of the federal government to those duties laid out in the U.S. Constitution.

Salem Indiana's WHAN Channel 17 Screens AFTF Twice!!
Our southern Indiana volunteers have reported the latest screening to have taken place on December 28, 2006. This was the second time AFTF has been screened on WHAN in Salem Indiana and we are looking forward to it being shown every month as a full feature film documentary.
