BUYING THE WAR: Watch the Show

Four years ago on May 1, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln wearing a flight suit and delivered a speech in front of a giant "Mission Accomplished" banner. He was hailed by media stars as a "breathtaking" example of presidential leadership in toppling Saddam Hussein. Despite profound questions over the failure to locate weapons of mass destruction and the increasing violence in Baghdad, many in the press confirmed the White House's claim that the war was won. MSNBC's Chris Matthews declared, "We're all neo-cons now;" NPR's Bob Edwards said, "The war in Iraq is essentially over;" and Fortune magazine's Jeff Birnbaum said, "It is amazing how thorough the victory in Iraq really was in the broadest context."

How did the mainstream press get it so wrong? How did the evidence disputing the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the link between Saddam Hussein to 9-11 continue to go largely unreported? Click here to read more and watch the show.

Number 1, the fabrication of pretext in justification of social, political and military action, is nothing new in history. So, like the Reichstag fire in 1933 and Pearl Harbor December 7th 1941, the engineering of pretexts to arouse public support and silence opposition is not only plausible, but likely. And whereas some in media are naive, many are complicit and do as they are told. This so-called, "Buying The War," in my view, is a white wash OF the media and their role in domestic covert operations, which grew out of WWII and the co-opting of media and mainstream academia for the engineering peace time consent. As they say, the first casualty of war is truth... How true! However, one thing for sure, if not for Pearl Harbor, America would never have entered the war, and the Nazis would have conquered Britain and Russia. As for whether Saddam had weapons of "mass destruction." Don't be so sure he didn't, or that they weren't spirited into Syria or Lebanon. If I recall, during Desert Storm, Saddam sent all his jet fighters to Iran for safety. So, like the shifting sands of the desert, things also have a habit of being shifted from one place to another.

Contradictions as per the actions of President Bush.... Why does Bush purport to combat terror, while facilitating a greater possibility OF terror through massive illegal immigration? Maybe a magicians slight of hand...? While watching one hand the other is concealing what you aren't supposed to see? Internal chaos (problem) which in turn brings greater demand for order (reaction or "remedy")? Organized social chaos and fear, eliciting an allowance for increased State power and intrusion into the private domain? In this time of covert and overt agendas it's more difficult to discern the substance of a thing. For instance, while conducting a war against global terror, why would the FDA (a State agency representing the interests of the Corporate Collective) seek jurisdiction over juice and so-called "alternative" therapies and remedies. It would seem citizens should be EMPOWERED rather than disempowered to provide for themselves and their families. It would paradoxically seem, the Corporate Collective has more fear of Americans than of Arab terrorists. Sometimes seeing the obvious is simply a matter of not wanting to.
